The Royal Family

The Lion is known as the King of the Jungle or in our case, the King of the Lower Zambezi. They stand at the top of the food chain and as such the name is often adopted by clubs, societies and others due to it symbolising power with a stately aura - a reputation that is well justified. As killers of large mammals they are unequalled.

In Lower Zambezi one is always conscious of their existence, whether around Camp or on game viewing drives, walks or boat trips. Their resounding calls in the night confirm their continual presence.

RECENT LOCAL REPORTS (Seen and Heard)

  • 2 lionesses and a 3 month old cub spotted in the evening behind Camp having been seen earlier relaxing on the airstrip.
  • 2 male lions on a “territorial patrol” were calling while padding through Camp! This adrenalin inducing sound created a really exciting atmosphere as guests were sitting down to dinner!
