At the Royal Zambezi Lodge we believe it is essential to support conservation of the Lower Zambezi. Sustainable use of the local biomass is of course something that has always taken place, our guides guide responsibly at all times ensuring that every wildlife sighting is left as it was found, our footprint being as light as possible, and we operate a catch and release policy on the river to ensure the fish population is maintained.
The lodge are also Platinum supporters of Conservation Lower Zambezi (CLZ) who’s work is committed to conserving and sustaining the local wildlife and natural resources in the area. CLZ aim to achieve this through:
- assisting Zambia Wildlife Authority anti-poaching patrol deployments to protect the wildlife as well as supporting a local community village scout unit
- environmental education through outreach in schools and visits to the CLZ environmental education centre to help school children appreciate the value of this valuable asset and to encourage them to protect it
- supporting local community development projects, especially human wildlife conflict mitigation
CLZ rely entirely on support from individuals and institutions and Royal Zambezi Lodge are proud to support their work. Read more about CLZ’s activity here
elephant charge logoMost recently we supported CLZ for the Elephant Charge by providing 2 nights at the lodge to raise funds for conservation and wildlife education causes.
